[ARCHIVED] Caregiver Support Group Meeting

caregiver support group

We cordially invite you to our upcoming Caregiver Support Group Meeting on May 6th at 2 PM, located at Daybreak, 327 Erie Street in Adrian. Our focus for this session is "Finding Joy with Your Partner," an essential topic in the journey of caregiving.

Led by Kathy Johnston Betzoldt, M.A., Licensed Professional Counselor, this meeting aims to explore the significance of maintaining a strong and joyful connection with your partner amidst the challenges of caregiving. Kathy will guide us through insightful discussions and practical strategies to nurture and strengthen our relationships.

Caring for a loved one can be demanding, often leaving little time and energy for maintaining intimacy and connection with our partners. However, prioritizing the health of our relationships is vital for both our well-being and the quality of care we provide to our loved ones.

During our time together, we'll delve into:

  1. Communication: Effective communication is the cornerstone of any healthy relationship. We'll discuss strategies for open, honest communication, even amidst the stress and responsibilities of caregiving.
  2. Quality Time: Finding moments of joy and connection with your partner is essential. We'll explore ways to carve out quality time together, whether it's through shared activities, outings, or simply enjoying each other's company.
  3. Self-Care: Taking care of ourselves is crucial for maintaining the energy and resilience needed to care for others. We'll emphasize the importance of self-care and explore how prioritizing our well-being positively impacts our relationships.
  4. Support Systems: Building a strong support network is invaluable. We'll discuss the importance of seeking support from friends, family, and fellow caregivers, as well as utilizing available resources such as Daybreak Adult Day Services for free respite care.

Join us as we come together to learn, share, and support each other on this journey of caregiving. For those in need of free respite care during the meeting, please call Daybreak Adult Day Services at 517-266-2588 to make arrangements.

We look forward to seeing you there!
