Lenawee County Recycling

Lenawee County RecyclingThe Lenawee County Recycling Drop Off Site, or DOS, is open for use by all Lenawee County residents for household recyclables.

Businesses with large amounts of recycling materials should contact a waste hauler service provider for alternative recycling options.

The Adrian DOS is located at 307 N. River Street in Adrian, Michigan.

Lenawee County is currently conducting a 9-month trial of smaller drop-off sites. The new recycle bins are in place in Onsted, Hudson and Blissfield. They will be emptied by LRS on Tuesdays and Fridays, so if you come to recycle and the bin is full, come back another day! Also - do not put plastic trash or grocery bags in the bin as they are not recyclable. Empty your recyclables from the bags into the bin, but the bags themselves should go in the trash.

The recycling sites are located:

• 125 E. 2nd St., Onsted
• Bachmayer Parking Lot, N. Lane St., Blissfield (the public parking lot across from the Depot Museum on N. Lane)
• 100 Block of Mechanic Street in Hudson, near the trail

Here are some do's and don'ts for the recycling dumpsters:

DO break down your boxes to leave more room for others to recycle.
DO be patient - this is the busiest time of year for cardboard because of Christmas present shipping.
DO hang onto your recycling if the bin is full.
DO dump your recyclables loosely in the dumpster rather than in containers or bags
DO NOT leave recyclables on the ground outside of the dumpster if its full - the ones pictured here lost their ability to be recycled because the moisture from the snow changes the structure of the cardboard to make it non-recyclable.
DO NOT put plastic bags or Styrofoam in the recycling bins. They are not included in the materials accepted and could contaminate the load.

Operations run smooth when we remember

PLEASE be PATIENT and RESPECTFUL  We understand a lot of residents rely on the County recycling site.

RECYCLE ONLY ACCEPTABLE ITEMS - Acceptable items are listed on each compactor (or find more information below)

DO NOT ADD TO A JAM - if a compactor is full don’t continue to pack it

DON’T JUST LEAVE YOUR STUFF - you may have to come back later if the compactors are full. If you have cardboard, it can be taken to the Goodwill Drop-Off site on Division Street (next to Lowe's).
